Oswin pushed the front door open, greeted by the familiar jingle as it swung shut behind her. She'd been spending a lot of time here as of late, researching she liked to call it. Secret research. There were so many books here, the shelves went on forever. Some old, some new. Some really old. She found herself drawn to the older ones, which were much deeper in the store and where not many people tended to look. She gave a quick glance over her shoulder before silently walking to the back, intending to pick up right where she left off.
She squatted down in front of one of the shelves, plucking a book about local lore and legends . "Here we go.." She muttered, opening the dusty cover and skimming over the index.

Spike sauntered into the bookstore, flinching slightly when he heard the bell and glaring up at it. "Bloody thing," he muttered under his breath before looking around. 'You've certainly lost your edge if you come to a place like this out of boredom,' he thought a bit wryly. 'Goin' back to bein' William the Bloody Awful Poet?' he taunted himself.
Spike exhaled. In truth, he was just really, really bored. The mansion had been quiet for a long time, and even the Walking Happy Meals didn't seem to be out and about their little human village. Oh well. Maybe he'd find a nice violent book to entertain himself with or something.
So Spike walked around, his face the perfect mask of boredom as his eyes scanned over the book spine's. Yeesh. Bad romance novel, bad romance novel, bad romance novel . . . bloody hell, didn't these people have anything less awful in to read?
"Bloody Americans, no decent literature these days," Spike grumbled, so absorbed in his own disgust that he almost tripped over the girl sitting in front of the bookshelf. Spike frowned down at her. It was so dusty in here, he must not have been able to smell her when he came in.
"Great place to sit, in the middle of where people are bloody walking," Spike said with a roll of his eyes.

((I keep almost writing Clara when I write her name. XD Cause I'm reading about Doctor Who stuff right now, too. XD))
Oswin flipped through the pages, eager to find the page she was looking for. She bit her lip nervously as she reached the chapter on, 'The Lore of Vampires'. Intently she began to read until a voice startled her back to reality. She gasped and smacked the book shut with such intensity that she nearly dropped it. She looked up wide eyed at the man in the aisle before quickly narrowing them. "Normal people just say excuse me." She said, her heart still pounding in her chest, "There's no need to be rude or to give me a bloody heart attack. "

(XDDD There's really not much of a difference. Clara . . . Oswin . . . they're the same person essentially XDDDD)
Spike rolled his eyes. "I'll remember that next time, luv," he said dryly. But that kind of fright didn't come from someone sneaking up on you . . . he could hear how fast her heart was pounding. She had been reading something she didn't want anyone else to see.
Spike crossed his arms. "What's a bird like you doin' in an old dusty bookshop at this time, anyways?" he asked with an arched eyebrow.

((Haha true, good point. XD Oswin: I don't get it. :3)) Oswin swallowed hard, clutching the book a little bit tighter. "What's it to you?" She asked, thrown off by the question, "I just thought I'd pop in and check the place out that's all. I like reading books." She tried her best to look disinterested and unstartled, but her heart wouldn't seem to slow down at any rate.

(XDDD *pats Oswin's head* Don't worry, we don't either really XDDDD) Spike arched an eyebrow, suppressing a smirk. Oooh, she was scared. This one was deffinitely up to something. "Still, you're sittin' back here all alone. Hiding from something? Or are you just hiding something?" he asked with a slight smirk.

((XDDD Oswin: Okay..?)) Oswin could feel the sweat on her palms, he was making her nervous. Why wouldn't he just go away already? "That's silly." She said, trying not to have her voice betray her, "What could I possibly hide? I just like the books back here better is all." She was able to keep her voice even but she was sure her face betrayed her as she stared wide eyed at him.

Oswin frowned hard at him, wishing she could smack the smirk off of his face. However she was much too frightened to attempt such a thing at that moment. "I.. wasn't reading anything." She said firmly, edging the book behind her back as indiscreetly as possible.

Spike chuckled. "Course you weren't, luv. It's not like we're in a library or anythin' like that," he said, giving her a 'how stupid do you think I am?' look.

"Okay fine! I was reading but I don't think it's any of your business." Oswin snapped, folding her arms across her chest and looking away from him.

Spike chuckled and held up his hands. "Alright then, luv. Can't shoot a bloke for askin'," he said with a slight grin. Oooh, this one was a firecracker alright.

Oswin untensed a little bit, glad that he'd stopped pressing. "Well maybe if you hadn't given me a heart attack than I would've responded a little differently." She said, feeling her startled heart calmed down enough for her attitude to snap back into place, "Hasn't anyone told you not to sneak up on girls in the library?"

Spike gave her a grin. "Want me to sneak up on you in an alley next time luv?" he asked before holding up his hands. "Not threatening to stalk, just sayin', poorly worded sentence there," he said.
